With Tom Peck
Slovenia is a strikingly beautiful small country. We will fly to & from Ljubljana, where we will spend a day photographing Zmajski Most (the Dragon Bridge) & the medieval Old Town, before heading to the photographers' paradise that is Lake Bled, where we will make our first base. This will allow us to photograph the lake early morning with the mist enveloping the island church as the morning sun appears & makes the lake look as if it's on fire. Lake Bled is on the fringes of the alpine Bohinj national park (the mountains frame the lake) and we will explore some of the spectacular countryside with the famous tiny churches dotted throughout the valleys (St Primož, St Thomas), as well as explore the Vintgar Gorge. In May the melt water from the Alps fills the rivers so we shall photograph some spectacular river flow & waterfalls. We will visit the cliff-side castle at Predjama, and then descend into the underground cave system at Postojna. Stalacmites & stalactites in vast subterranean halls where concerts take place. We will then transition for the end of the week to the coastal area around Piran, a resort city on the Adriatic coast known for its long pier & Venetian architecture, a town of narrow cobbles streets and picturesque squares in the old town centre.
