The Dolomites is one of the world's most photogenic mountain ranges! Spires and steeples of rock, pinnacles, jagged ridges set amongst picturesque alpine villages and meadows. We will be visiting in late spring when snow capped limestone peaks are surrounded by alpine meadows full of spring flowers. We will start our trip near Klausen so we can explore the Gardena and di Funes valleys with their famous onion topped churches (see pic left: Chapel St Johann). We will take the cable car up to the Seiser Alm to photograph the fantastic jagged peaks of the Sassalungo mountains. We then move to Cortina so we can explore the Tre Cime peaks (see lower pic), the idyllic lakes at Ghedina and Antorno and mountain passes - Passo Giau. Impossibly romantic alpine villages clinging to mountain sides like the Colle Santa Lucia with afternoon light on the Monte Pelmo. In the evenings we will sip local wine, eat delicious Italian food, and maybe take a picture of the alpenglow lighting up the surrounding mountains... truly majestic natural cathedrals, just heavenly! (Moderate walking involved)
