Glencoe & Isle of Eigg

20 - 26 Mar

(7 days, 6 nights) 7 guests max.

Scottish mountain in the snow storm

The Highlands of Scotland are a fantastic place for photography, & nowhere is the drama of craggy mountains & gushing waterfalls more present than in Glencoe & its neighbouring Glen-Etive. This trip will give you the chance to explore the Highlands to the fullest, hopefully in snowy dramatic conditions. We will be based in Glencoe itself to make the best of the location. That will allow us to visit Rannoch Moor which in the early morning light is spectacular. The dramatic Buachaille Etive Mor dominates the entrance to the Glen, & the pass through the Glen gives us many views across the various lochs. We will visit Glen & Loch Etive with its mirror lake views. Scottish drama awaits with the ruins of Castle Stalker & Kilchurn. If weather permits we will take the cable car up Ben Nevis & we will visit the (Harry Potter) viewpoint at Glenfinnan. We will then move to the Isle of Eigg for 2 days. This tiny island is truly inspirational - the Bay of Laig, with its view over to Rum, is one of the most photogenic beaches anywhere in the world. Grey and black sand gives fantastic two-tone patterns which draw the eye to the mountains across the sea. Boulders on wet reflective rock, caves, honeycomb rocks, sea arches. A landscape photographer's dream... (Accommodation on Eigg is extremely limited, so if necessary we will stay on the mainland and ferry over.) Exertion level: Moderate - possibility of icy conditions. Some walking necessary on Eigg)

Price: £2000 pp based on sharing a room. There is a £500 single supplement. £500 deposit. Travel: During the workshop Tom will drive a minibus. Getting to Scotland – if pick up en route is practicable attendees can get a lift with Tom from Epping (Essex) or make their way to Glasgow (flight/train) where Tom will pick them up. Bookings to Tom please (07515 549485): thomaspeck1@me.com
