The Faroe Islands

17 - 23 June

(7 days, 6 nights). 2 spaces left

Lighthouse, Kalsoy, Faroes, Faroe Islands, dramatic cliffs
Fjord, cliffs, Faroes, Faroe Islands, Lone figure, mono landscape

The Faroe Islands are perhaps the most spectacular landscape locations in the whole of Europe. 300 kms north of the Scottish coast these wonderful and dramatic  islands are becoming a magnet for landscape photographers. Stupendous cliffs - the tallest in Europe, basalt sea stacks, waterfalls dropping into the sea (Mulafossur), glacial eroded valleys, precarious lighthouses (Kalsøy), lakes apparently hanging in the sky (Sørvágsvatn), fjords and mountains, quaint houses with grass roofs in tiny villages. Scenery reminiscent of pre-discovery Iceland.

We will be based in Tórshavn, the capital town, which is an excellent base to get around the islands. Most of the most photogenic locations are within 1.5 hours of travel from the town. Travel around the islands is easy, & dramatic - via several spectacular road tunnels - which will allow us to explore the islands of Vagar, Streymoy, Eysturoy, Bordoy & the island farthest north, Vidoy, all of which offer unique experiences and breath taking views. We will of course stop regularly by the side of the road to capture our own unique take on these stupendous islands. June is an excellent time in the Faroes - long days with wonderful golden hour opportunities in spectacular locations.
