Normandy & the Opal Coast, France
with Tom Peck & Noel Baldewijns. 13 - 18th June
(5 nights, 6 days). 1 space left
The chalk cliffs that we associate so much with the south coast of England actually have their beautiful counterpart in northern France. This 2 centre workshop will take us to some of the most stunning coastline just across the channel. The first 3 nights will be based in Cany Barville with its classic French château. We will visit the sea stacks and plunging chalk cliffs at Etretat, Saint Pierre & Grandes Dalles. Our location is close to one of the prettiest towns in the whole of France – Honfleur, and this will also give us the opportunity to photograph two spectacular bridges: The Pont Du Normandie and the Pont de Tancarville. Days 4 & 5 we will move to the Opal Coast between Calais and Boulogne. We will visit the vast sand beaches and cliffs of Cap Blanc Nez and Gris Nez (literally Capes ‘White’ and ‘Grey’ Nose), the 17th century sea fort at Embleteuse and finally the mussel beds and groynes at Wissant and Audreselles. This is a postponed trip from 2020 due to lockdown so we are more excited than ever to get over to France & make a wide variety of images in different styles – long exposures on the beaches, dramatic views of the cliffs, detailed shots in town harbours and minimalist photographs of huge suspension bridges.
