Important - Cancellations Policy & Conditions

Quest endeavours to be sympathetic when unavoidable cancellations are made, but unfortunately, these have increased significantly, often at short notice. This has resulted in problems with some workshops as it has not always been possible to find late replacements, and on occasion this has meant that running the workshop was not viable, Conditions for bookings in this programme are therefore as follows:

  1. Cancellations made before 2 calendar months of the event - choice of repayment in full or a credit note.
  2. Cancellations made between 1 and 2 calendar months - credit note or refund issued for all moneys paid if space can be filled. If it cannot, deposit will be retained, but any balance will be refunded or credit note issued
  3. Cancellations made within 1 calendar month of event - deposit retained, but any balance repaid or credit note issued if space can be filled. If space cannot be filled, all moneys will be retained.
  4. For any workshop cancelled by Quest, all moneys will be refunded - or, if preferred, a credit note issued, in which case a 10% 'bonus' will be added.

In view of the above, you are strongly recommended to take out Travel Insurance when booking Photoweeks.

Cancellations or Changes to Advertised Dates

Occasionally, due to unforeseen circumstances, it is necessary to change the date of a workshop. As much notice as possible will be given, but if the new date is unsuitable, your moneys will be refunded in full, or a credit note issued. Rarely, a workshop has to be cancelled due to insufficient bookings. In this event all moneys will be refunded as above.

Cancellations due to Adverse Weather

Certain workshops are weather dependent, and when adverse conditions are forecast or occur an appraisal has to be made to decide whether or not to cancel or postpone the event. Sometimes this decision cannot be made until the morning of the workshop and whereas Quest will do its utmost to inform participants in good time, there may be occasions when this is not possible. Any resulting inconvenience is greatly regretted and where practicable arrangements will be made to rerun the workshop on another date. However, if it is not possible for you to attend then, a full refund will be made. Regretfully, any other costs incurred, such as travel and accommodation, cannot be reimbursed.

Location & Accommodation

Most workshops are based at Seaford, on the Sussex coast, or at West Mersea, near Colchester, Essex.

Seaford is situated at the edge of the South Downs, and is approximately mid way between Brighton & Eastbourne, on the A259. For the landscape photographer, there is much to offer, from the open scenery of the South Downs, to the spectacular coastline cliffs of the renowned Seven Sisters, Birling Gap and Beachy Head. And if you attend a summer workshop, you might even be able to take a dip in the sea! Nearby. There is a regular rail service to London Victoria and along the south coast and plenty of accommodation is available in the town and neighbourhood. Historic Lewes, about 10 miles from Seaford, is the county town of East Sussex, and is situated in the heart of the Sussex downs. From there, Brighton is only 20 minutes away by car or train, and there is an hourly train service to London.

West Mersea is on the Blackwater Estuary in a delightful coastal location. Sailing is a feature and there are many photographic subjects along the waterfront, sometimes including historic smacks and barges. There is a regular bus service from Colchester, to which there is an excellent rail service from London Liverpool Street and Ipswich.

For B&B in the Seaford area, contact Seaford Tourist Information 01323 897426.
For West Mersea area, contact Colchester Tourist Information 01206 282920

Individual & Group Tuition, inc. Camera Clubs

Quest is very happy to undertake personal tuition, by arrangement, for darkroom printing and some other subjects. This can be on a 'one to one' or small group basis, and can take place either at West Mersea, or in your own home. The advantage of this is that the tuition can be tailored to precise needs, with 100% personal attention. Prices from £125 per day (or £20 per hour pro rata) Group tuition is available to small or large parties, such as Camera Clubs, and can be on a 'hands-on' or demonstration basis. Subjects, prices and venue by arrangement. Quest welcomes group bookings, and a discount may be available when 3 or more people book through one person at the same time. Please ask.

Discountinued Workshops

Interest in a number of workshops has declined significantly in recent years, which makes it impracticable to include them in the programme. These include practical workshops, such as darkroom, print mounting, alternative processes, exhibiting etc. Quest will, where possible, arrange such workshops on demand for one or more people. Please, therefore, contact Colin Westgate if there is anything not included in the current programme that would be of interest to you.

Sponsorship and News from Icon Publications

Quest is very grateful for the sponsorship received from Icon Publications Limited. Publishers of Photoworld. Visit the web site for on-line subscription to new articles and resources.

Suggestion and Feedback

Quest's philosophy and policy is to give satisfaction and value for money. We therefore invite your comments and feedback, and where you feel any of the workshops could be improved, or if you are unhappy in any way, please let is know! A dissatisfied customer is one that will not come again - and we value your patronage highly. Many people attend year after year, but we certainly do not want to become complacent!

We are always seeking new ideas for workshops, so, should there be any subject that you would like covered. Please let us know. Should it be possible to incorporate your suggestions in the programme, we will be pleased to do so.

New Quest Trips Under Consideration for 2009

Quest endeavours to bring in new destinations for Photoweeks each year. Those under review for next year are Vietnam, Cairngorms & The Glens and Wester Ross & Durness (Scotland). Should any of these potentially be of interest to you, and you would like your name placed on a priority list for advanced booking, please let us know.

and a ’THANK YOU!!!’

Quest would like to thank everyone who has attended workshops over the past twelve years. Some of you have been on one or more workshops every year, and some of have attended as many as five or six in a particular year. This support is very gratifying and is greatly appreciated. Without your confidence and very positive contribution, Quest workshops would not exist. Furthermore, Quest's aim is your satisfaction, and we do take pride in the quality of our workshops. Please let us know where you think we can do better!!
