Welcome to our 2009 ProgrammeWe are pleased to present our 16th Programme of Quest Photo Holidays and workshops. Building on the success of last years programme, there are some exciting new destinations for the year, including the Ardeche (France), the Cairngorms and Glens, and Wester Ross and Durness (Scotland). Most other established destinations are again featured, including the fabulous 12-day trip to Iceland, the unique landscape of which is guaranteed to astonish and inspire. Book early for this one, however, as there are only eight places available! Quest locations are in some of the most stunning scenic areas of the UK and elsewhere and provide every opportunity for some outstanding photography. Accommodation is in good hotels or guesthouses and while this costs more than self-catering, it is certainly more relaxing! Travel during the holiday and to and from airports, where applicable, is by comfortable minibus. With steep rises in fuel costs and accommodation, there are, unfortunately, inevitable increases in some prices. These have been kept to an absolute minimum but remain competitive and excellent value. A large majority of our bookings come from photographers who have previously attended Quest events and it is always very pleasing and reassuring that so many of you are prepared to come back, often time and time again. But, of course, if you haven’t previously booked with Quest, we would be delighted to see you. All events are very informal and friendly, with attention given to individual needs. They are designed for photographers of all standards, with special individual guidance given to those less experienced. Help will be given with operating and understanding your camera where this is needed, and other topics such as composition and ‘seeing’, lighting and exposure are covered. We are single minded in our efforts to find good picture locations and will spend ‘quality photographic time’ at fewer places, rather than ‘whistle stop’ to as many as possible. Although some walking is usually involved, this is not normally strenuous or long distance and is well within the capabilities of most people even if not particularly fit. On most trips, after dinner, the evenings are spent sharing and looking at photographs. With any Quest event, you can be assured of an interesting and stimulating time, in the company of like-minded photographers. The updated Quest web site, www.questphoto.co.uk. will be on line early in 2009, and you will be able to view this to check on workshops and vacancies. Ultimately, we hope to make arrangements for credit card bookings through Paypal, but in the meantime please send a cheque for the deposit, or, if you prefer, full payment. If you book three or more events, and pay in full by the end of December, discounts of 10% for workshops and 5% for holidays may be taken (unfortunately, we cannot include the Forum days in this arrangement). Your attention is drawn to the booking conditions on page 10. For many years, Quest has been a retailer of the excellent Fotospeed products, both for darkroom and digital. Colin Westgate is an official Fotospeed lecturer and is available for talks to Camera Clubs and other organisations - either contact Colin direct or refer to your Federation handbook. Quest can supply high quality Fotospeed ink jet papers and other products, including the Quill continuous ink system (CIS) at discounted prices. Modern photo printers are voracious in their demand for ink, and a CIS can be a massive saving. Moreover, Fotospeed will supply free custom profiles for their papers, an invaluable service for best results from your printer. Please ask if you would like a catalogue. Finally, should you have picked up this programme from your camera club or elsewhere, and would like to be included on our mailing list, please email or post your details. Please also ask if you would like any additional programmes for friends or your Camera Club. Go with the best – Book with Quest |
